A TRUE ORIGINAL FESTIVAL EDIT PARTY – HOSTED BY DISNEY #MICKEY90

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited to Disney’s “A True Original Festival Edit” party to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday!  I was truly honoured as I know it is rare for Disney to throw events like this.  I have never really taken my blog or Instagram seriously until now so this was the first time I was invited to an event like this.  I had no idea what to expect and was nervous about what to wear!  I had some pink Minnie Mouse ears from a trip to Tokyo DisneySea (similar here and here), so I decided to wear those, along with my Liz Lisa striped blue suspender skirt (similar here and here), Liz Lisa white blouse and Penderie blue nautical cardigan (similar here and here).  I paired this outfit with my trusty Coast nude suede pointed court shoes (similar here and here).

Like I said, it was my first time attending a blogger/influencer event, so I was quite nervous.  The email stated that the event would be held at a location in central London, with the entrance to the event via a record store (sorry, what?!)  Of course, I looked up the location on GoogleMaps and found that it genuinely was a record store.  I decided to proceed with caution.

On the day, I arrived 5 minutes early and walked into the record store.  Everyone there looked like they were there to buy records (no surprise there!).  I was just about to approach a sales assistant when I noticed two ladies standing at the back of the store in front of some double doors, clutching clipboards and wearing headsets.  I went over and turns out, the event was being held in the basement of the record store!  Let’s be honest, I was pinching myself at the first instance of even being invited.  So in the back of my mind, I have to admit, I was slightly concerned about whether I’d been scammed or if I was going to be abducted inside some abandoned warehouse… (ahem)

The basement was quite big and spacious and as soon as I entered, I saw so many different props and Instagrammable spots!  This included a makeup counter doing glitter makeup and temporary Disney tattoos, a station for creating your own Mickey Mouse ears, a food truck (gimme all the food!), deckchairs and more.  I bumped into two lovely girls in the queue for the cloakroom and they were just lovely!  We just clicked and ended up spending the whole evening together.

Okay, so let’s not hide the fact that I was extremely excited about this food truck.  There were so many yummy choices on offer (plus dessert!).  I ended up trying one of each dish!  My favourite was the lobster mac’n’cheese.  I need that in my belly again right now!

After filling my tummy with 3 main courses and washing it all down with some champagne, we decided to get some more photos of the beautiful spots around the basement.

I met some other very talented Instagrammers and bloggers too and we all had such a blast!  There was even a panel talk about Mickey and Minnie and the fact that they are true icons and original influencers in their own right!  Fun fact: I learnt on the night that when Mickey and Minnie make an appearance at parties or events, they don’t appear anywhere else in the world!  This is to maintain the magic for children.  How sweet is that!  When I got my photo taken with Mickey and Minnie, they were both so cute!  Minnie was excited and Mickey was straightening up his jacket to look smart for the photo (I can’t even!)  I just can’t believe Mickey Mouse will be 90 years old already this year.  Mickey and Minnie were so much a part of my childhood that I think I’ve just frozen them in time in my mind.

To celebrate Mickey’s 90th, Disney have collaborated with so many designers and brands from H&M to Loungefly and Primark.  We got to preview the entire range of collections that will be released into stores and let me tell you – it’s gorgeous and I want it all!

I didn’t expect it to be such a late night, but I didn’t get home until just before midnight (made it Cinderella!).  Disney even gifted everyone a great big bag of Disney-themed goodies which I am so grateful for and I LOVE everything inside it.

This is a paid collaboration with Disney but, as always, all opinions are my own.
